Transforming Maintenance, Repair, and Operations

Background

 Traditional MRO processes in industrial production are often riddled with inefficiencies, including:

  • High operational costs due to unplanned downtime
  • Challenges in identifying and sourcing parts
  • Ineffective asset tracking and management
  • Complex inventory and supply chain coordination

Recognizing these challenges, I led a groundbreaking initiative to reimagine MRO workflows through innovative digital strategies.

Objective

The goal was to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs by leveraging digital technologies to streamline MRO processes. This involved implementing solutions that minimize downtime, improve asset management, and empower decision-making with real-time data insights. 

Key Solutions Implemented

  •  QR Code-Based Equipment Tagging
    Tagged equipment with QR codes for simplified identification of parts and products, enabling faster maintenance responses.
  • Mobile Application Development
    Designed an app to scan QR codes, retrieve product and interchange information, and facilitate direct ordering through a centralized system.
  • Cloud Integration
    Leveraged Azure for a centralized database that tracked part numbers, enriched product data, and integrated with product information management (PIM) systems for seamless operations.
  • Asset Monitoring Tools
    Provided hardware and software solutions for real-time asset monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, ensuring predictive maintenance.

Results Achieved

  The digital MRO transformation delivered measurable outcomes, including:

  • 33% Reduction in the MRO lifecycle, saving one hour per instance of equipment replacement.
  • $2.5 Million Annual Savings by reducing downtime and improving labor efficiency.
  • Enhanced decision-making with customized KPIs and customer visualization tools.
  • Improved customer experience through streamlined parts identification, ordering, and inventory management.
